Michael: There's this great place down there. Twenty bucks a night, hammock on the back deck. Beers are 50 cents. 25 cents at happy hour. Ever been to Thailand? Thailand's great.

QUOTES - SEASON ONE
1.01 - THE PILOT

Scene #1

Sara: Tattoo looks fresh...hold that.
Sara: I guess being a diabetic you don't mind needles.
Michael: I'm Michael by the way.
Sara: Scofield, I read your report.
Michael: And you are?
Sara: Doctor Tancredi will do.
Michael: Tancredi like the governor?
Michael: Your not related, are you?
Michael: Wouldn't think you'd find the daughter of "Frontier Justice" Frank working at a prison, as a doctor no less.
Sara: I believe being part of the solution, not the problem.
Michael: "Be The Change You Want To See In The World".
Michael: What?
Sara: Nothing.  That was just my senior quote.
Michael: That was you?  This whole time I was thinking it was Gandhi.
Sara: You're very funny.
Sara: Sit tight.  Put direct pressure on that.  I'll be back in a sec.

Scene #2

Michael: So how do we play this?  You hook me up with a few weeks' supply?
Sara: Nice try, no hypos on the floor.
Michael: I'm the farthest thing from a junkie.  Trust me.
Sara: I got news for you Michael. "Trust me" means absolutely zero inside these walls. The only ways you're getting that insulin is if I'm administering it.
Michael: I guess we'll be seeing a lot of each other then.
Sara: I guess so.
Sara: You went to Loyola.
Michael: You've been checking up on me.
Sara: I like to get to know my patients. I went to Northwestern. Graduated two years after you did.
Michael: Maybe we met before. You know, drunk, out at a bar somewhere.
Sara: I would've remembered.
Michael: Is that a complement?
Sara: No.
Michael: What?
Sara: Your blood glucose is at 50milligrams per deciliter.
Michael: So?
Sara: It's hypoglycemic. Your body's reacting to the insulin like your not a diabetic. You sure it's Type I diabetes you got?
Michael: Ever since I was kid.
Sara: All right. Not experiencing any tingling sensation, cold sweats? (phone ringing).
Sara: I'd like to run some tests next time you're in. Last thing I want is to be administering insulin to a man that doesn't need it.
Michael: Yeah, sure.
Sara: Okay.

1.02 - ALLEN

Michael: How long does this take?
Sara: It use to take hours. They've come a long way with the new glucose kits. This will take us about 10 seconds.
Sara: Slide the strip into the meter, we're ready to go.
Sara: I'm sure you know this, but average glucose for a non-diabetic is about 100 milligrams per deciliter. So we see a number like that here, and we know that you've been misdiagnosed.
Sara: You seem nervous.
Michael: I do?
Sara You're sweating.
Michael: Must be the needles. Never really got use to them.
Sara: Somehow, with diabetes and that tattoo, I find that hard to believe.
Sara: Bad news, I'm afraid. 180 milligrams per deciliter. You're definitely diabetic.
Michael: Do you need anything else from me?
Sara: Arm to stick a needle in.
Michael: Okay.
Sara: I'll see you Wednesday.

1.03 - CELL TEST

Scene #1

Sara: Ok, let's take a look at you.
Sara: You're okay, you're okay.
Sara: What Happened?
Michael: Nothing.
Sara: This isn't nothing, Michael.  I need you to tell me what happened.
Michael: Don't make me lie to you.  Please.

Scene #2

Sara: No redness or swelling, so there's no sign of infection.  I'm going to keep you on antibiotics for the next 10 days.  You should be good.
Sara: Michael, you understanding by law.  I'm obligated to file a report if I feel there's been prisoner misconduct.  There's no way this injury happened by stepping on a blade in a garden shed.
Michael: If you file a report, things could get a lot worse for me.
Sara: They're not already?
Michael: Not compared to what they could be.
Michael: I've made some enemies.
Sara: Yeah.  You scared?  Men.  Okay, here's what I think.  I think you are scared.  And you wouldn't be human if you weren't scared in a place like this.
Michael: When I was young, I couldn't sleep at night because I thought there was a monster in the closet.  But my brother told me there wasn't anything in the closet but fear, that fear wasn't real.  He said that it wasn't made of anything.  It was just...air.  Not even that.  He said you just have to face it.  You just have to open that door, and the monster would disappear.
Sara: Your brother sounds like a smart man.
Michael: He is.
Michael: In here though, you face your fear, you open that door, and there's a hundred more doors behind it. And the monsters that are hiding behind them are all real.
Sara: If you want, I could recommend you be sent to Ad Seg.
Michael: With the rape victims and the snitches.
Sara: It would keep you safe.
Michael: Thanks.  But I think I'd like to face the monsters on my own.

1.04 - CUTE POISON

Sara: Good afternoon, Mr. Scofield.
Michael: Hello
Sara: How are you feeling today?
Michael: We're good.
Sara: What happened?
Michael: Caught an elbow playing basketball.
Sara: Mind if I take a look?
Michael: By all means.
Sara: You know you're going to get killed in here, right, if your not careful?
Michael: I'll make you a bet.  When I get out of here alive, I'll take you to dinner.  Lunch.  Cup of coffee.
Sara: Michael, this charm act could be exactly what's getting you into trouble out in the yard.
Sara: Lean forward.

1.06 - RIOTS, DRILLS AND THE DEVIL
PART I

Sara: Hottest April on record.
Michael: Global warming.
Sara: Probably.  You got a minute?
Michael: About five years' worth.
Sara: [chuckles] Sorry.  Right.
Sara: You never told me Lincoln Borrow is your brother.
Michael: Never came up.
Sara: Right.  I'm curious if that isn't because of my father, the Governor.  He might not be the one pulling the switch but you and I both know he has the power to grant clemency, and he won't.  And he never does.
Michael: My old man was an abusive drunk who abandoned his family. I don't judge anyone by their father's actions or inactions, if that was your concern.
Sara: Just so you know, I don't agree with his politics.  And I'm sorry about your brother.
Michael: I appreciate that.
Sara: Hey, this isn't much.  I have to give Lincoln a weekly check-up now.  If you want, I could schedule those visits to end right before you coming in for your shots.  That way, you could at least see each other even if it's just in passing.
Michael: Thank you.
Sara: Yeah.

1.07 - RIOTS, DRILLS AND THE DEVIL
PART II

Scene #1

Michael: Come on.  Grab my hand.  Come on!
Michael: I've got you.
Michael: You alright.  It's ok.  I'm not going to hurt you.
Michael: See these pipes?  We're going to stay on them.  They go through the wall and over the hallway, and they're gonna get us out of here.  All you have to do is follow me.
Michael: Ok?
Sara: Yep.
Michael: Okay.  Let's go.

Scene #2

Michael: Are you alright?
Sara: I'm ok.  I'm fine.
Sara: You know what?  I need a minute.  I'm sorry.
Michael: It's not much further.
Sara: Just a sec.
Michael: You know, we could stop if you want.  Catch your breath.
Sara: Okay.  Yeah, I could use a minute.
Michael: Things should be winding down around now. Pretty soon the powers that be will break in and it'll all be over.  It's just a matter of time.
Sara: What's happening in A-Wing?
Michael: All hell's breaking loose.  But I think if we stay up here, we should be okay.
Sara: I can't believe this is happening.
Michael: Ever been to Baja?  Mexico?
Sara: No.
Michael: There's this great place down there.  Twenty bucks a night, hammock on the back deck.  Beers are 50 cents.  25 cents at happy hour.  Ever been to Thailand?  Thailand's great.
Sara: Michael, if your trying to calm me down, you're doing a terrible job.
Michael: But I am trying.
Sara: Why are you here?
Michael: What do you mean?
Sara: Crawling around in the ceiling, risking your life.
Michael: You need help and I came to find you.
Sara: How'd you know where to go?
Michael: When everything went off in A-Wing, and the C.Os left the station I saw you on the monitor.  One of my first assignments on P.I., we were up here cleaning out toxic mold.  It took days, so I'm kinda familiar with the layout.
Sara: Hope you wore a mask.
Michael: Excuse me?
Sara: To prevent inhalation.  Mold can be really dangerous.
Michael: Yeah, I wore a mask.
Michael: The door to the Visitation Room, did you every use it?
Sara: Not usually.  But my access card should work.
Michael: Come on.
Michael: Let's go.  Move.
Michael: Let's go!

Scene #3

Michael: Alright.
Sara: Okay.
Michael: I got you.
"This next part is of Michael and Sara intensely staring at each other, than another inmate comes in to pick a fight with Michael, he manages to knock him out and he and Sara leave the room".
Sara: Come on this way.

Scene #4

Michael: We can't go this way.
Sara: We have to.  There's no other way to visitation.  This is it.
Michael: No, it's not.  It's back this way.
Sara: This won't help.
Michael: Trust me.
Sara: Michael, if your wrong...
Michael: We don't have time.
"During this time they run out of the room".
[Split second break]
Michael: It's this way.

Scene #5

Michael: That's it.
Sara: Wait, I can't leave you here.
Michael: You don't have a choice.  I'm one of the bad guys, remember? [Split second break]
Sara: What are you gonna do.
Michael: Go back to my cell.  Stay out of the way.
Sara: Michael.
Michael: What?
Sara: They see us.
Michael: You have to go.
Sara: I can't.  They'll kill you.
Michael: You go out the door.  I'll drop to the floor.
Sara: They're sharpshooters, Michael.  They won't miss.
Michael: That's why you can't stay here.
Michael: Go!
[During this point Michael pushes Sara out the door and Michael drops to the ground.]

1.08 - THE OLD HEAD

Michael: After what you went through in the riot, I thought you might take a day off.
Sara: I'm fine, I couldn't find anyone to cover for me anyway.
Michael: I hope you don't feel like you owe me anything.
Sara: I do...I'm...I really appreciate what you did for me.
Michael: But?
Sara: But you told me that you had been up in the crawl space for P.I., and P.I. was never assigned to go there.
Michael: Were done here, right?
Sara: Michael, don't be like that.  I just want some answers.
Michael: Thanks for the shot, Doc.

1.09 - TWEENER

Sara: I just wanted you to know that if your looking for someone to talk in here, your not alone.
Sara: It's part of my job to counsel inmates and help them with their problems.
Michael: I think I have things pretty well figured out.
Sara: I sort of backed into some information about you.  I hope you don't mind.  But you have to understand that there's a reason I became a doctor.  It's in my nature to want to help.  From what I understand, it's in your nature, too.  You did a lot of good thing before you were in here  Alot of community work, a lot of charity work.
Sara: What Happened?
Michael: The man you're talking about died the moment I stepped inside these walls.
Sara: All right.

1.10 - SLEIGH OF THE HAND

Scene #1

Sara: You seem distracted.
Michael: I've got a lot on my mind, I guess.
Sara: Yeah?  Have anything to do with the people who took these toes?
Michael: Nice flowers.
Sara: Right.
Michael: Do we have an admirer?
Sara: They're from my father.
Michael: What's the occasion?
Sara: It's my birthday.
Michael: Today?
Michael: Happy birthday.
Sara: Thank you.
Michael: (chuckles) Okay.
Sara: What?
Michael: Nothing.  Birthday's aren't usually a sore subject, that's all.
Michael: Unless the celebrant is feeling her age, which I don't see how you could be.
Sara: I'm 29 years old, Michael.  I'm not feeling my age.  It's just that out of those 29 birthdays, my father's  actually managed to see me on precisely six of them.  So, I get flowers instead.  Flowers that end up dead and in the trash a week later.  I sounded bitter, huh?
Michael: Kind of.
Sara: It's not a big deal.  Your are all set.  I'll see you tomorrow.
Michael: Okay.
Michael: I'm sorry you feel that way.  About the flowers, I mean.

Scene #2

Michael: You throw away your flowers.
Sara: Yeah, like I said, they don't last.
Michael: I don't think they're dead yet.
Sara: I don't like to get attached to things if I know they won't last.
Sara: Here you go.
Michael: Why are you so cynical?
Sara: Michael, I think there's cynicism and then there's realism.
Michael: And there's optimism.  Hope.  Faith.
Sara: The is coming from an eight-toed guy locked away in a penitentiary.
Michael: Toes are overrated.
Sara: Thank you for trying to make me smile.  Not today.
Michael: You never know.
Sara: We're all set.
[During this time Michael leaves the room and Sara finds the origami flower]

1.11 - AND THEN THERE WERE 7

Scene #1

Michael: You kept it.
Sara: Kept what?
Michael: The flower.
Sara: No.  I'm a pack rat.  I never throw anything out.
Michael: Yeah, all this clutter.  It's overwhelming.
Sara: You should see my apartment.
Michael: Whoa.  Haven't even had our first date yet and you're already inviting me in.
Michael: Thought your were a nice girl.
Sara: Oh, Michael, we all know nice girls finish last.
Michael: So where do you finish?
Sara: It depends where I start.  Deep breath.
Sara: Exhale.  Inhale.
[During this time Michael and Sara are staring at each other intensely until one of the nurses come in and says that they're backed up and Sara tells the nurse she's sorry.]
Sara: I'm going to get your shot.

Scene #2

Sara: So you're married.
Michael: Well, not in the traditional sense of the word.
Sara: Michael, were both adults.  Put your card on the table.
Sara: Okay, I'll go first.
Sara: As one of the very few woman around here, I'm use to a certain amount of innuendo and flirtation being thrown my way...I'm not used to enjoying it.
Michael: Look, Sara.
Sara: It's Dr. Tancredi.  And please let me finish.
Sara: I'm not a jealous woman, but I'm a careful one.  And for some reason, when I'm around you I'm not careful.
Michael: You don't have to be.
Sara: Yes, I do.  There are so many questions surrounding you, Michael.  There are way too many.
Sara: So here's the deal.  From now on, your shots, any medical concerns, they're all fine, as long as it's doctor patient.  But personal questions and favors of any kind are no longer a part of our relationship.
Michael: The questions you have about me.  There are answers.

1.12 - ODD MAN OUT

Michael: He's had it out for me since the day I got here. (Referring to Capt. Bellick)
Sara: Hold still, please.
Michael: Sorry.
Michael: I only married her so she could get her green card.
Sara: I saw you coming out of the conjugal room.
Michael: It's just business.
Sara: You don't have to explain it to me, Michael.
Michael: I know.  But I want to.
[After this Sara leaves the room with Michael still sitting in the chair]

1.13 - ODD MAN OUT

Michael: Feels like you've been the clean-up crew for me the whole time I've been in here.  Toes, contusions, insulin shots.
Sara: Well, somebody's gotta to do it.
Michael: Well I'm grateful.
Michael: You ever think, in another life...
Sara: I won't be that woman, Michael.
Michael: I wasn't asking you to be.  But it is something to wonder about.  What if?
Michael: Anyway, just wanted to make sure it was said.
Sara: Why do I feel like you're saying goodbye to me?
Michael: I don't know.  I guess in a place like this, you never know which day is gonna be your last.
[During this time the nurse interrupts for a few moments]
Sara: Your set.
Sara: I...I'm sorry about your brother.
Michael: Doctor, thank you.

1.14 - THE RAT

Michael: I need to see my brother.  Just to talk.  For five minutes.
Sara: Yeah.  Yeah, I'll try.
[Sara then leaves the room and starts talking to a C.O. to see if Michael can see Lincoln.  Then comes back, with the answer]
Sara: I'm sorry, I'm told that you have to wait until final visitation.
Michael: Would you talk to your father for me, please.
Sara: Believe me, my father knows where I stand on the death penalty and I'm just as clear on his...
Michael: Sara...Dr. Tancredi,...I'm sorry.  This isn't about the morality of the death penalty.  This is...This is about killing an innocent man, my brother, and surely your father can't be in favor of that.  Just talk to Lincoln's attorneys, just for an hour, and I swear to God you'll be convinced of his innocence.
Sara: Michael, I would pick up the phone right now if I thought there was any chance that I could make a difference, but you have to understand, I'm the last person in the world that my father listens to.  He hates what I do, he hates what I believe in.  And if I'm the one asking for clemency for your brother, your brother won't get it.
[Michael then nods after Sara's statement.  Then out of the corner of his eye, sees that Lincoln is leaving the infirmary.  Michael intently watches through the window, Lincoln being guided out of the infirmary.
Sara: I'm sorry.
[Michael then nods]

1.15 - BY THE SKIN AND THE TEETH

Scene #1

Sara: Michael, it's Sara.  How are you feeling.
Michael: Groggy.
Sara: It's the anesthesia.
Michael: Why did I have anesthesia?
Sara: We had to perform an procedure.
[Michael, trying to understand but looks disorganized.]

Scene #2

Sara: Painkillers?
Michael: How bad is it?
Sara: I'd take the pills.
Michael: Do I get to see it?
Sara: No, bandage stays on for now.  Take the pills.
[Michael takes the pills with a drink of water.]
Sara: Did your cellmate do this to you?
Michael: Sucre?  No.
Sara: Who did?
Michael: This is the part where I don't answer you.
Sara: All right.  I'll have you sent back to your cell.
[Scene ends with a C.O. taking Michael back to his cell.]

1.17 - J-CAT

Sara: Michael?
Sara: Okay, you're going to feel my fingers on your wrist.
Sara: Come on, I need your eyes.
Sara: I'm going to take a look at that hand.
Sara: You're going to be okay. You're gonna be okay.

1.18 - BLUFF

Michael: Hey.
Sara: Hi.  They said you wanted to talk to me.
Michael: Yeah, yeah.
Sara: Okay.
Michael: Please [pointing to his bed].
Sara: Thanks.
Michael: I made you something.
[Hands her the ashtray.]
Michael: It's an ashtray.
Sara: I don't smoke.
Michael: Yea, I know.  Bt they only let us make these and jewelry, and I didn't figure you for the macaroni necklace type.
Sara: It's very sweet.
Sara: How about we talk about how you're doing?
Michael: I think we both know that I don't belong here.  I don't remember much about that night, but being locked up in ad seg, something must've snapped
Michael: What I'm trying to say is, I think I've had enough of arts and crafts.  But that's your call.
Sara: And the doctors here do say that you've been acting fine.  The problem is that if you don't tell the Pope who burned you, he's gonna lock you back up in ad seg.  And after a couple of days of that, you're gonna be right back here.
[Sara at this point takes a hold of Michael's hand.]
Sara: Michael, I hate what happened to you, and I hate that you're here.  But you have got to let me help you.
Sara: If you want to get out of psych ward, and stay out, you've got to tell the Pope the truth about that burn.

1.19 - THE KEY

Scene #1

Sara: Morning.
Michael: Morning.
Michael: How're you feeling today?
Michael: Better.
Sara: Good.

Scene #2

[During this time Sara starts to clean Michael's wound, when she's all finished she cleans up and turns around and Michael kisses her.  The following scene follows after the kiss.]
Sara: What do you want from me, Michael?
Michael: Sara...I need you to do something for me.
Sara: What?
Michael: Wait for me.
Michael: It won't always be like this.  In this room, in this place.
Sara: Until then, I can't.
Sara: We can't.
Sara: Damn it.  I can't.
Sara: And I gotta go.

Scene #3

Michael: Hey.
Sara: Hi.
Michael: How are you?
Sara: I'm fine.  You?
Michael: Fine.
Sara: Can I have your hand, please?
[Katie, walks in and kinds Sara's keys.]
Katie: Here they are!
Sara: Here what are?
Katie: Your keys, they were right over there by your inbox.  Well you got a maintenance guy waiting outside here, says you wanted to change the locks.  Want me to call him off?
Sara: No, send him in.
Maintenance Guy: Is it okay if I...
Sara: Yea..  We're about done here.
Sara: Is there something wrong?
Michael: No.  Unless you want to talk about what happened this morning.
Sara: I think I have a pretty good idea. We're done here.
[As Michael leaves he keeps his eye on the Maintenance guy, and Sara happens to notice this.]

1.20 - TONIGHT

Michael: Sara.  I was thinking about something...
Sara: Enough, Michael.  Enough with the the lies and the consequences and stories, all of it.
Michael: It's not what you think.
Sara: I know what you did.  The question is, are you man enough to admit it?
Michael: The keys.
Michael: Congratulations.  Is that the first time you've been honest with me?
Michael: It's not...
Sara: The second?
Sara: What are you after, Michael?  Is it drugs? Is it needles?
Michael: Neither.
Sara: Then what?
Michael: Please understand that I never meant... I never wanted to involve you in this.
Sara: Well, you've done a pretty poor job of that.
Michael: I came here to tell you something.  I'm getting my brother out of here.  Tonight!  And I need your help.
Sara: Michael, honestly, for your own good, don't say anything more.
Michael: You know he's innocent.
Sara: Do what you're talking about and he won't be.
Michael: But he'll still be alive.
Sara: You understand that I'm required to report everything you're telling me.
Michael: Yes.
Sara: Then why would you?
Michael: Because you're the only one that can help.  And because I know you want to be part of the solution.
Sara: Yeah, aiding and abetting is not part of the solution.
Michael: Neither is doing nothing knowing what you know about his case.
Sara: How dare you put this on me.  I did what I could.  I gave my father the information...
Michael: No offense to your father, but the people that are framing Lincoln, let's just say they have a higher security clearance.
Sara: So now it's a conspiracy?
Sara: I didn't come here to have a debate.
Sara: You're asking me to break the law.
Michael: I'm asking you to make a mistake.  Not hurt anyone, not steal anything.  Just forget to lock up. Leave the door unlocked when you leave tonight.  That's it. Please.
Sara: This is where you're breaking out of?  This room.
Michael: There are alarm contacts on the glass surrounding the door.  Otherwise, I wouldn't need you to...
Sara: I was part of your plan?
Sara: Was it all an act?
Michael: At first, yes.  I needed to be here.  But then I wanted to be here with you.
Sara: Right.
Michael: And it's killing me to know that you'll never believe that.
Michael: Whatever you may think of me, this is about Lincoln.  Don't make him pay for my mistakes.
[Sara then leaves out the door.]
